hallelujah!!!!

Omigod you guys. I HAVE A MOBILE HOME!!!
Yes! Finally! It finally happened!

I am beyond excited. After all of our bad luck, we stumbled onto this incredible find- an MH that has been sitting there- VACANT- since 1998. We found the owners, who don't even live in El Paso, and they were sooooo happy to sell it (they've been paying rent on that space for 10 years!!), that they drove all the way down here over the weekend to finalize the deal. Woot.

Anyway, this is it:

Since it's been abandoned & vacant for 10 years (which is actually perfect for me if you think about it- it's a Lost Destinations trailer, ha), you can imagine there's A LOT of cleaning to be done. But it's 80 x 16, 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths... and it came with a washer & drier, a refrigerator, air conditioner, and 2 brand-new toilets still in the boxes.

It's gonna be fabulous to get in there and redo this place myself. I already have so many ideas for it- I am thinking of an eclectic mixture of mid-century kitsch and gypsy wagon glam, with lots of color and personality. I'll definitely be posting the progress of my first real (non-rental) home here. In fact, I may have to start a 'mobile home chic' blog, since I have yet to really find one anywhere... *wink*

Thanks to everyone who performed rituals to the Trailer Park Gods on my behalf.

Now I have to go collapse with excitement. 'Scuse me.
*shrieks*

Woo Hoo! House warming at Shady's! I was certain the Trailers Gods would smile upon you. I had a special insight, since I myself have lived in a trailer.

Richard... Thanks so much! Did you sacrifice some plastic pink flamingos for me or what? :P

Newt... Thanks :D Yeah I am still stunned at the size of it myself. I was expecting to live in something about 1/4 that size!

Sebastian... Thank you! I am super excited. You'll definitely be invited to the trailer-warming party ;)

B-Bob... I know, it's huge right?! And for only $6000, that's less than what it cost me for a 1 room apt in Jesery for 6 months ha. I have no idea what I'll do with the extra space yet. I wasn't expecting extra space!

Chick... Thank you so much my friend. I already feel the tension melting away, I can't wait until I actually move out, it's gonna be amazing :D

Dragonlung... why, thank you. And I love your name... Dragonlung! Yeahhhh! :D

Chasemice... Thanks, I am definitely throwing a party, and you're invited! ;)

Eli... Thank you :) It IS big, right?? I swear I was expecting like, a 12 x 12 foot trailer (and I would have taken it, anything is better than where I am now!) This was an exceptionally lucky find!!!

Raaaaandi... *muah*! Isn't it exciting?? Woot. When I heard it had been vacant for 10 years, I was a little scared to look inside, heheh... but when I saw it, I was astounded. It's in great condition, it's not even THAT dirty. Last night I danced around in my underwear, I was so happy thinking about moving. No, I did not get any video of that! :P

Tara... thank you, Babydoll... so when are you coming to EP for a visit!!?? :D

Shades...check your lost destinations mailbox for a special presentation of unbridled, trailer-lovin' joy courtesy of me, and three glasses of red wine. It is musical, and it sucks large, but it was worth mailing. You have been warned. :D

Wow! I'm so happy for you! I lived in a 1998 model trailer for years and I've got two quick tips for 'ya:

1) That wall paper WONT come off! *Hahahaha* You'll have to paint over it or cover it!

2) The tubs and sinks STAIN like a BITCH! So stalk up on some "Tilex"!

I'm so glad you and your babies have a home!

Jen... THANKS babe :D I have been needing this move for 2 years (well, longer probably, but that's water under the bridge) I can't wait to start my free life!

Randi... uh oh... heheh... what am I in store for now? *trots off to check email*........ *well doesn't REALLY trot, is too old for trotting, but thought that it would be funnier to say 'trots'*

HR... ha, ya know I had a feeling about that wallpaper... *shakes fist* I'll most likely end up painting everything. And thanks for the tip on the sinks/tubs! *adds Tilex to the shopping list* Thanks, doll!

SKM... Thank you m'dear :) I am pretty excited and impatient to get in there and start redecorating. I'll prolly be moving in some time next week. I'm totally going to go check out that site now :D

$6000 is insane! D'ya know how much a place that size would cost where I live? Equivilent of $700000, without any outside space. Bloody hell, I'm almost tempted to move to Texas looking at it like that. You're so lucky, enjoy your new home.

Shady said...

B-B.... yeah, it's even BETTER when you consider that rent on the lot where I will be living is around $200 a month (which includes that big, fenced in yard), with some utilities included!!! I had never thought about living in a mobile home until I found out how economical it is, and then I said "Hell yeah, bring on the trailer trash jokes I don't care, I'll laugh all the way to the bank!" :P

Wow Shades! I'm so happy for you! What a great find! And so purrrfectly detachedly gypsyly artistry derelicacy ~ finally a mega break for you, about time too..
I just know you'll be having great fun re-doing it to your own style.
I'll keep watching this space, to see what you'll make of this place.
